Taking direction from the foreman, the Side Boom Operator lays pipe in excavated ditches according to manufacturers specifications. Assists in bending of pipe with side boom.
The Side Boom Operator is responsible for conducting all functions of their job responsibility in a safe and appropriate manner; maintaining awareness of all personnel working around the machine. and maintaining equipment in a clean and secure manner.
Main Functions:
- Operate side booms with live draw works
- Access and egress using three point contact
- Ability to competently operate all functions of boom
- Conduct pre-trip safety inspections, maintenance checks and completes daily field level hazard assessment for all activities.
- Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.

The Foreman is responsible for assisting with supervision of crew members, assigning daily tasks, and completing paperwork related to the job. The Foreman acts as the back up for the Supervisor on site and assists with overseeing all staff and subcontractors on site, which may include: labourers, welders, pipefitters, and equipment operators. The Foreman is versatile and able to jump into any role as needed and provide assistance to complete jobs.
Main Functions:
- Maintain a strong Safety Management Program through:
- Attending and participating in daily toolbox and safety meetings
- conducting site inspections and FLHA’s

Welders

Basic Functions
The Pipe Welder’s responsibilities include inspecting materials, maintaining tools, performing pre-welding preparations, welding components according to specifications and diligently following safety regulations. You should also be prepared to work in cramped places and harsh weather conditions.
To be successful as a Pipe Welder you should be able to study schematics and devise welding plans. A top Pipe Welder should work with great attention to detail and must be able to deliver a consistent and smooth weld. Oversees Welder helpers on site and may act as Supervisor on smaller scale projects. May also oversee general labourers and bolt up hands.
May have to work out of town- travel required

Staffing and Retention Coordinator

Scope:
The Staffing and Retention Coordinator supports the workforce planning, personnel placement, and retention strategy of the Viking Projects and Leif Services Field Teams. Working in conjunction with the HR Team, the Staffing and Retention Coordinators key deliverables will be centered on the retention of key personnel while actively involved in recruitment and dispatching. This role will play a key part in assessing competencies, and building functional, strong crews in collaboration with Site Supervisors; assist with recruitment strategies and help to develop and implement retention strategies. Keeping accurate and detailed records on field personnel and continuous communication with field staff and site supervisors. The successful candidate must have a strong sense of responsibility and ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Quality Control Inspector
Quality Control · Lacombe, Alberta
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for executing Viking Project’s Quality Management Strategy initiative. The QC Inspector is required to carry out visual inspections of welds, to ensure work conforms to specifications, relevant codes, regulatory and client requirements. Work involved may be office or field level dealing with QA/QC, with a primary focus on the installation of underground pipelines, facilities construction, site grading, and other earthworks activities
This position is required to travel to site when required for support and inspections with the other days being in the Lacombe shop supporting the QC department.
Responsibilities and Duties * Provide support to Field Supervisors to ensure construction, modification and/or repairs are completed in compliance with applicable code.
- Ensure all ITP stages are followed and complied.
- Coordinate field Verification of all modifications/changes executed by construction due to RFIs, NCRs or any other deviation notices to ensure they are done as per the specifications, standards and client approvals.
- Analyze and assist in Non Conformance reporting to identify inconsistencies and support corrective action throughout the process.
- Liaise with production and NDE subcontractors.
- Evaluate material certificates and documentation delivered with goods against purchase order and material specifications, when required.
- Assist in developing schedules for visual weld inspections and inspection and test plans.
- Perform visual inspections of fit up prior to welding and finished welds.
- Monitor welding conditions, parameters, consumable control and post weld heat treatment operations.
- Perform dimensional checks and complete reports when required.
- Conduct inspections in areas of cut items, pre-assembled components, assembled components, identification of materials and transfer of identification, and material receiving.
- Ensure all necessary equipment for inspection and for performance of welding and post-weld heat treatment operations are calibrated and maintained.
- Complete inspection reports and ensure all necessary documentation is completed, ready for filing and inclusion in turnover package.
- Assist in creation and ensures timely compiling of turnover packages in order to meet the client specified schedule.
- Material receiving inspection and verification.
- Maintaining welder qualification record.
- Monitoring welding and carrying out final weld visual inspection.
- Verifying all NDT completion releasing the piping for hydro test.
- Witness hydro tests.
- Final piping reinstatement inspection and witnessing applicable bolt torque.
- Flange face inspection.
- Review and sign off on all visual inspection reports.
- Ensure compliance with designs, company standards, client specifications and global codes
- Inspection of fabrication stages and testing
- Read and understand P&ID’s, piping plans, elevations and piping isometrics
- Point of contact on projects, for all QMS related inquiries from leadership, employees, clients of the Company. Responsible to source and provide answers to those inquiries within the framework of the QMS. Consult leadership as required.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Quality Manager.
Position Requirements
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in a related field
- CWB Welding Level 1 with B31.3 Z662 and endorsements. W47.1 or W59 endorsements would be considered an asset
- Well versed in ASME, ABSA, API and CSA Construction Codes
- Ability to create and review technical documentation, including inspection and test plans, test procedures, and design documents
- Knowledge of manufacturing and field installation processes of pipeline and facility work.
- Experience with weld mapping, as-built drawings, redlining engineered drawings, and creating hydro-test packages.
- Proficient with AcornPipe Software
- Highly motivated and self-directed; capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision.
